No one can deny that our daily lives in families, schools, universities, workplaces, social circles, local communities, economies or cities are complex. Many hold the view that life has in the recent decades become more<\/i> complex while the truth may just be that complexity is more perceptible today than it was erstwhile. Thanks to the technological advances indeed, it is obvious that our everyday business floats around in a web of interconnected and inseparable matters and that every initiative - personal, social, cultural, economic or environmental - not only impacts but is also impacted by the web.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

How does one think and act in such circumstances? The idea that straightforward cause-and-effect thinking encouraged in education systems cannot suffice to understand and deal with complexity and hence the need for systems or complex thinking, has been in discussion since the 1980s. Complex thinking to handle complex problems sounds like common sense. Although the discussion did inspire some corporate circles and educational institutions, it is nowhere near having the popularity it deserves. Let\u2019s admit indeed that most of our lives are spent dealing with complexity! In which case, one would think that education stakeholders (policy makers, curriculum designers, institutional administrators, teachers, educators, employers or parents)should strongly be interested in helping learners to understand, think and act in complexity. For example, employers, instead of complaining that schools and universities do not prepare students for their inherently complex workplaces, should start supporting the cause of complex thinking in schools. This hasn\u2019t quite been the case.<\/p>\r\n\r\n

\u201cComplex\u201d is what our world is. \u201cEmbracing complexity\u201d is about seeing and engaging with the world as it is and \u201ccomplex thinking\u201d is about learning to dialogue with it. This site I hope will help readers understand what this dialogue may look like informal and non-formal education spaces, with academic or non-academic topics and take you through some discussions, practical approaches, blogs and resources created by teachers and educators worldwide. For those interested in the theoretical underpinnings, do consult our library section. You\u2019ll find videos, authors and books that have inspired me on this journey.\r\n<\/p>\r\n<\/div>\r\n <\/div>\r\n\t<\/div>\r\n
